About the Tutor:

Darrel comes from a background of Business Administration, having served as a senior project officer and senior administration officer with the Commonwealth Government’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission.
His remote postings included the Kimberley Desert of Western Australia, Thursday Island and the Torres Strait, Western Queensland, and an isolated island in Vanuatu.
Prior to his retirement, Darrel served with Anglicare, as Regional Manager of South-West Queensland, and upon his retirement, he returned to university to complete an arts degree, completing the double majors of Ancient History (Greek and Roman) and World Religions.
Darrel has a great love of history, particularly military history, and served for six years in the Australian Army Reserve, but his most enjoyable adventure was his four years’ service on remote island lightstations as a lighthouse keeper with the Commonwealth Lighthouse Service, before Australian manned lighthouses also became a part of ancient history.
