On track to re-open next month
Here’s the good news we’ve been waiting for … classes will resume at U3A noosa on Monday 27 July. The management committee, which met on Monday, decided it was safe for members, tutors and volunteers to return on that date but with one big proviso. The return to classes is subject to the Queensland government lifting restrictions (as outlined in its Covid-19 “roadmap”) to allow gatherings of up to 100 people from 10 July.
“Without that it would be impossible to re-open Michell House,” explained U3A noosa President Liz Gleghorn, who went on to say that tutors had been contacted and the majority are keen to continue their classes.
The plan at present is to re-open Reception from Monday 13 July and from that date to contact all members to see if they want to continue attending classes from 27 July.
Certain safeguards will be in place when members return to ensure everyone’s safety. These include:
- Social distancing and provision of hand sanitisers
- No refreshments will be available. Members must provide their own drinks
- Bring exact money – $3 per class
- Do not attend classes if you are unwell
Do not call Reception to check progress; please wait to be contacted after 13 July
