Get ready for a fast-moving, action-packed journey through the History of Ancient Greece!
We’ll be plunging into Ancient Greek society, the role of women, sacred sex, pederasty and homosexuality, the birth of lesbianism, the birth of democracy, the birth of the medical world, festivals, the glories of sport, fitness and physique, myths and magic, omens and oracles, gods and goddesses, the afterlife, art and architecture, terrorism, rebellion and political discontent, sleuths, spies and secrets, the soldier and brutal, hand-to-hand warfare, chemical and biological weapons, Minoans and Mycenaeans, the Trojan War, the Persian Wars, the Peloponnesian War, Athenians and Spartans, and of course Alexander the Great.
The lectures will comprise a 2-hour presentation once a week for 12 weeks, each Tuesday in the Margaret Christie Studio, from 9.30 am to 11.30 am.
