We’ll be looking at 5,000 years of religious and anti-religious activity, from 3000 BCE to 2000 CE. Religions and anti-religions studied will include Mesopotamian, Assyrian, Hittite, Persian, Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Atheism.
Discover the meaning of religion in humankind’s history, and why humans build sacred dwellings. Be introduced to the endless, colourful, and terrifying variety of gods and goddesses, and the myriad ways to a vast assortment of afterlife alternatives. Learn about the spectacular array of creational cosmologies, the prevalent and unashamed role of sacred communal sex in religion, as well as the crucial part played by women in so many religions of the world.
The series will start on Tuesday 01/02/22 and finish on Tuesday 19/04/22. It will comprise a 2-hour presentation from 9.30am to 11.30am each Tuesday, for 12 weeks.
