THE HISTORY OF ABORIGINALITY IN AUSTRALIA

This presentation will begin by tracing the first arrivals of humans to Australia which started with the Barrineans 40,000 years ago, then the Murrayians 20,000 years ago, and then the Carpentarians 15,000 years ago. These three different racial types were eventually joined, to produce the full-blood Aboriginals that we can still see in some parts of Australia today.

Together we will study the incredible 1933 anthropological expedition conducted by Professor Norman Tindale and medical researcher Doctor Cecil Hackett, both from the South Australian University and South Australian Museum. We will view the extremely rare multitude of photographs of the expedition, as they travelled with and documented untouched Stone-Age nomadic desert Aboriginal tribes who were still living in Australia as they had prior to the white-man’s arrival.

This amazing story will prove that even after the European settlement of 1788, pure, untouched, hunter-gatherer Aboriginality had continued in many remote parts of Australia for another 180 years after European settlement.

The lecture will comprise a 2-hour presentation illustrated by copious PowerPoint slides .
