Get ready for an exciting and revealing exposure of a crucial period within the History of Ancient Rome!
We’ll be plunging straight into the Second Punic Wars against Hannibal and his elephants, then the Gracchi brothers, as well as Marius and Sulla, the ‘ideal’ Roman, voting and elections, laws against women, the medical world, art and architecture, omens and oracles, gods and goddesses, the provinces, warfare, chemical and biological weapons, Julius Caesar and the civil war, Cicero and the perfect statesman, the deadly triumvirate of Antony, Octavian and Lepidus, Augustus the first Emperor and the change from Republic to Empire, Germanicus and the heroine Agrippina, and the rediscovery of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
The series will start on Tuesday 11th August 2020, and end on Tuesday 27th October 2020. It will comprise a 2-hour presentation, 9.30am to 11.30am, once a week for 12 weeks.
