THE SECRET OF SHAKE-SPEARE
Conspiracy Theory: you are all familiar with the term. It is a label which has been used, by some, as a description of content relating to my course. Therefore, I thought the following definition would be of interest.
Online Etymology Dictionary: The word ‘conspiracy’ is from 1386; ‘conspiracy theory’ is from 1909. Before 1386 the word ‘conspire’ simply meant to breathe together. After the word ‘conspiracy’ was born, the root word ‘conspire’ took on a new meaning – to plot something evil or illegal.
The 1386 definition, ‘power of breathing together’ has been hidden due to the misdirection of a powerful word.
The members who have joined my course ‘breathe together’ and we enjoy an in-depth discussion regarding ‘who should wear the Shakespeare crown of’ literature.
HENRY V
This semester, covering the first two weeks, I will be showing the BBC production of that play. The following weeks we read the play and find out the meaning of archaic words. (You will need a copy of the play) We are not reading for the stage – just have a go!
We learn as we go along and have fun doing so.
If your mind is open and willing to consider PERHAPS academia has misled you regarding the Shakespeare authorship conundrum – come and join us 😊
